Destiny’s Edge

Jev Bjorn is a sixteen year old teenager growing up on Earth’s first colony world Alessi, which, for the past five years, has been ruthlessly controlled by a reptilian alien race known as the T’kri. Kiyel Lhevic is a telepathic felinoid crew member of the Caitaran scout ship Lekur, shot down by the T’kri while attempting to ascertain why a probe—which had been launched to this previously uninhabited world a decade earlier—suddenly ceased functioning.

They were of two different species, from two different worlds, brought together by chance, and yet their meeting would herald the beginnings of an alliance that could finally see the T’kri defeated and driven from Alessi for good. But old prejudices may ultimately prove the more deadly enemy as Jev and Kiyel quickly find themselves pitted against not only a conquering alien race, but also the fear and hatred from both their people.

The Kindred

The Kindred, genetically engineered human and animal hybrids, were originally created by Doctor Per Wolff to assist in the fight against terrorism which had spread across the world like a plague. But to Doctor Wolff, the Kindred were more than mere soldiers. They were the next logical step in human evolution and the future of the human race itself. So strong were his convictions, in fact, that Lucas, his six-year-old son, was made a Kindred in order to cure him of the leukaemia that was slowly killing him. He was the first.

Almost thirty years later, with the fight against the terrorists long over, the Kindred were finally recognized as persons under the law, allowing them to be full members of society. Lucas Wolff was now twenty-nine-years-old, but still looked very much like a teenager, albiet a very furry one thanks to his Kindred genes which made him part red fox. While on one of his frequent walks one cool spring night, he unexpectedly came upon a despondant young man who, unbeknownst to him, would change the course of his life forever.
